My 3 year old is transport obsessed, so for his 3rd birthday I bought him a 35 piece wooden train set from Squirrel Play, which I knew he’d love.

This wooden train set comes with:
- Train track
- 3 x trains
- Bridge
- Barn and barn holders
- 4 x people
- 3 x animals
- 2 x trees
- 2 x signs
Once the train track is made, children can create their own imaginary world around it using the barn, people, animals, trees, and signs.
The trains have magnets on them so they join together, and inside the packaging there’s instructions on how to put the train track together, which connects like a puzzle.
Part of the fun of this wooden train set for my toddler is that he can make his own track quite easily, which he does by connecting the train track pieces to make a long curvy line, that he drives the trains on.

When constructed as a figure 8, this wooden train set is 75cm L x 12cm H x 39cm W.

The packaging states that this wooden train set is suitable for 3+.

I paid £10 for this product, which I bought from Smyths Toys.
Overall thoughts
At £10 this wooden train set is really good value for money.
I find it a really good size for my 3 year old as he can easily move the trains around the track without having to move from one spot. It’s also small enough to store intact, or to leave out in the main living area.
It’s also easy enough for him to put together and pull apart himself, so he can make whatever shaped track he wants, which adds to the fun of the product, and allows him to be creative.
There aren’t any downsides to this wooden train set for me, I find it to be well made, easy to put together and pull apart, and most of all my toddler loves it.
