Baking
If you’re looking for a seasonal excuse to bake, spring is perfect because Easter falls within it, giving you the perfect excuse to find some yummy Easter baking recipes to make with your kids.
Outdoor cafés
If you’d prefer someone else do the baking, then visiting an outdoor café is a great way to enjoy a treat in the sun.
Colouring sheets
Spring can have some rainy days, and one of the activities to do with kids indoors that your kids may like on a rainy afternoon are colouring sheets.
There are many spring colouring sheets online that your kids can colour in at home, and it’s also an activity for toddlers that they’re able to do.
Nature trails
Many woodlands, nature reserves, or National Trust (in the UK) have nature trails, where kids receive a piece of paper with items on it that they need to find, such as certain flowers, birds and buildings.
You can also do this yourself without a paper guide, by asking your kids to find a certain number of coloured flowers, a certain number of sticks, or anything else you can think of.
Flower walks
Similar to nature trails, you can also visit parklands, old estates, and neighbourhoods and look out for certain types of flowers.
Cherry Blossoms
Looking out for Cherry Blossoms is a great spring activity for kids, and trying to find different varieties of them is a pleasant and colourful way to spend a spring day.
Snowdrop hunts
Snowdrops are a sign that spring is on its way, or has arrived; looking out for them when you’re having a family day out is really fun.
If you do see them make sure you don’t touch them, as the bulbs are very poisonous for humans.
Gardening
Spring is perfect for planting summer friendly flowers, and getting your kids into gardening is a kid friendly hobby idea your kids may do for many springs to come.
Some flowers that are ideal for planting in spring include:
- Lilies
- Dahlias
- Cannas
- Foxgloves
- Lupins
- Delphiniums
- Peonies
Puddle jumping
Spring gives kids once last chance for some puddle jumping before they dry up in summer.
Mini golf
If you’d rather not have to deal with wet, muddy, puddle jumping clothes, then mini golf is a great spring activity alternative.
There are many spring activities to do with kids, from baking, visiting cafés, exploring nature, or relaxing on a rainy day, that will keep your kids entertained and happy during this time of year.
