Big on Bouncing Slough Review

Big on Bouncing, Slough, Berkshire

Over the February half term, Ryan and I went to Big on Bouncing, in Slough, Berkshire.

There’s not a lot of soft play centres near where we live, so when I heard of this one, I was really excited to check it out.

Here’s my review of Big on Bouncing, which I hope will help you decide if it’s somewhere that you’d like to visit.

Where is Big on Bouncing?

Big on Bouncing is located in Slough, Berkshire, which is 20 miles west of central London, and 19 miles north east of Reading.

What is there to do at Big on Bouncing?

Big on Bouncing offer play days and parties.

Soft play

Play days are two hour long soft play sessions, that you need to book online, and which give your child full access to the play equipment, which includes a bouncy castle, climbing frames, and an interactive wall.

There are three different sections of play equipment, which from left to right include an enclosed area for under threes, a bouncy castle, a large soft play climbing frame, and an interactive wall.

The under threes section contains a sensory wall, soft steps and blocks, things to sit in and rock, and a small soft play climbing frame.

The bouncy castle has some inflatable poles inside it, and is large enough for many children to play in.

The large soft play climbing frame contains ramps, slides, nets, steps, a punching bag, and spinning poles.

There is also an interactive wall where children press buttons to get scores. I’m not entirely sure how this worked.

There are also a few large purple rubber balls that children can take into the bouncy castle or climbing frame, which they fought over a lot.

At the time of writing this, there is only one play day session on Saturday and Sundays, which is 9am.

During the week there are more play day sessions available, which are at 9am, 11.15am, 1.30pm, and 3.45pm.

Parties

Big on Bouncing also offer parents exclusive venue hire for two hours, for parties.

There are two party options available:

  • Option one – 80 minutes of play, followed by 40 minutes in the party room where you pay extra for food platters.
  • Option two – two hours of play with access to café food.

For more information on parties, please visit here.

Pricing

You need to pre book play day sessions online, which can be done here.

Adults cannot attend unless they have a child.

At the time I booked prices were:

  • Adults £2
  • Children £5
  • Children under 6 months with a paying sibling free
  • Children under 6 months without a paying sibling £5

Play day sessions are non refundable, and can’t be transferred to another date or time.

Parking

There are 11 car spots onsite, which are free of charge, but can’t be pre booked.

There is also a public car park across the road, with free parking for up to two hours.

Facilities

There are toilets and a baby change onsite, as well as an area to park buggies, as buggies can’t be taken into the play area.

Food and drinks

There is a café that offers hot food and snacks, including food items such as burgers, chips, chocolate, muffins, and cakes.

There’s a lot of seating available where food and drink needs to be consumed, and no outside food is allowed onsite, except for baby food for 0-6 month olds.

Equipment hire

Big on Bouncing also have an equipment hire service, where you can hire bouncy castles, soft play pieces, ball shooters, assault courses, ball ponds, sumo suits, and much more.

Further details on this can be found here.

What age is Big on Bouncing suitable for?

At nearly 6 Ryan liked Big on Bouncing, but he didn’t love it.

He enjoyed it for about an hour, then got bored.

In my opinion, if your child is coming on their own, they will enjoy this venue from about 3-6 years old, but if coming with friends they may enjoy it if they’re older than this.

My thoughts on Big on Bouncing

When I first entered Big on Bouncing I thought that it looked really fun.

The addition of a bouncy castle was really unique, as we’ve never been to a soft play centre with a bouncy castle before.

The centre is really small, which for me is great, because it means that I can sit and relax whilst still being able to keep a close eye on Ryan.

The staff are really friendly, the owner chatted to all of the parents, and was really understanding and supportive whenever Ryan came to me crying, which happened a lot.

On the day we visited there were a lot of kids, and it was very loud, which meant that Ryan got yelled at by some of them, which made him cry.

He also cried when someone snatched one of the purple balls off him.

I’m glad I didn’t bring my 22 month old here, even though there’s an under three section, because on the day we visited the under three section was full of older children the whole time we were there.

Despite all the tears I would bring Ryan here again, as it’s really clean, set out well, and small enough that I can watch him.

However, next time I’ll arrange to meet one of Ryan’s friends here so that he has a better time.

Big on Bouncing is located at Unit 1, Kelpatrick Road, Burnham, Slough, Berkshire SL1 6BW. For more information on Big on Bouncing please visit their website.
