10 of the best Halloween movies for kids

There’s so much fun surrounding Halloween, there’s Halloween decorations, Halloween arts and crafts, and of course Halloween treats, but something that I want to start doing this year is watching some family friendly Halloween movies, which is also a great way to entertain kids indoors during an especially cold Halloween night.
Here are 10 of the best Halloween movies for kids that I’m going to add to my Halloween movie list, which I hope you may like to add to yours as well.
The Nightmare Before Christmas (2023)
This Halloween movie for kids combines two holidays that kids love, Halloween and Christmas.
Jack Skellington the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, decides to bring the joy of Christmas Town to Halloween Town, as he’s sick of the same trick and treats.
However, in doing so he makes a bit of a mess of things, and needs some help getting things back in order.
Corpse Bride (2005)
Victor is a young man who accidentally marries a ghost, while his real bride waits for him in the land of the living.
Toy Story of Terror (2014)
This Halloween movie for kids is only 21 minutes long, so is perfect for kids who don’t have a big attention span.
In this movie Toy Story favourites Woody, Buzz, Jessie, and their friends go on a road trip that results in a detour to a roadside motel, and a quest to find Mr Potato Head.
Room on the Broom (2013)
While not technically a Halloween movie, this 25 minute movie based on the book by Julia Donaldson, is perfect for younger kids as the only Halloween feel to it is the main character, a witch, and there are no monsters or ghosts to scare them.
In this movie the witch flies different animals on her broomstick until it suddenly breaks, and she finds herself in the arms of a dragon.
She then needs the help of her new animal friends to escape the dragon and fly them all to safety.
Super Monsters Save Halloween (2018)
This movie is perfect for kids who may be a little scared of Halloween because the Super Monsters explain the tricks behind haunted houses, Halloween decorations, and how other Halloween related activities are made up, to help them sort through their scary feelings.
Monster House (2006)
When a house becomes a living breathing monster, DJ and his friends set out to learn the secrets of how the house came alive.
Casper (1995)
Casper is a friendly ghost who haunts a mansion, when a man and his daughter move in he struggles to form a relationship with the man’s daughter due to his ghostly uncles.
Spooky Buddies (2011)
A movie about some brave dogs that stop Warwick the Warlock from destroying the world, and save some puppies at the same time.
Hotel Transylvania (2012)
Count Dracula’s Hotel Transylvania is where monsters go when they need a break from humans.
One weekend Dracula invites his friends to the Hotel to celebrate his daughter’s 118th birthday, but a human crashes the party and falls in love with his daughter.
A Monster in Paris (2011)
Raoul and Emile accidentally release a monster and need to track it down, and in doing so realise that the monster isn’t as scary as they thought.
