Things to do

Here’s what there is to do at Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside:

Zones

The main attraction at Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside are the zones, which are dedicated to different Nickelodeon shows.

Each zone has its own dedicated space within one large room, and you can explore any zone in any order, as many times as you like.

Paw Patrol Adventure Bay

This is the first zone you’ll see when you enter Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside, and within it is a Paw Patrol Command Centre that children can climb up, and then go down on a slide.

There’s also Chase’s Police Car, Marshall’s Fire Engine, Skye’s Helicopter, and Rocky’s Recycling Truck that children can stand in and pretend to drive.

Ryan used to be a huge Paw Patrol fan, and even though he doesn’t love Paw Patrol like he used to, he still really enjoyed this zone, and had a lot of fun in it.

Nick Central

Located behind Paw Patrol is Nick Central, which has Blaze’s Monster Machine Race inside it, which is an enclosed car track where children can race cars.

It also has a tractor that children can use to pick up plastic balls and place them on a conveyor belt.

There are also climbing tubes here that children can climb through and look at illuminated panels of different Nick Central characters.

Rugrats

Just behind the climbing tubes in Nick Central is a small zone dedicated to the Rugrats, and which had a small padded area for toddlers to crawl in, and build things with padded blocks.

SpongeBob Bikini Bottom

The SpongeBob zone was the largest and most colourful zone at Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside, even kids who don’t know who SpongeBob is, or who don’t watch it that often, or at all, will have a great time here.

Ryan’s favourite thing about this zone was the Boating School ride, where you get your photo taken for a boat licence, watch an animated video on how to drive a boat, then get to choose your own boat to drive around the boat track.

To ride a boat you need to be over 90cm tall, and under 4’s aren’t allowed to drive a boat, but they can sit next to an adult while they drive.

As you drive your boat you get to see SpongeBob’s hometown, friends, and other colourful characters.

This zone has the most interactive displays in it, there’s a lot of knobs, levers, dials, and pedals that children can operate to make displays light up, move and make sounds.

Some of the interactive displays included:

  • Chum Bucket – a giant robot who rises from the ground
  • Jellyfish Stampede – jellyfish that move over a sand dune
  • Patrick’s Jellyfish Frenzy – a display where children try to get as many jellyfish into a net as possible
  • Rock Bottom Organ – a large organ that children make music with by jumping on piano keys
  • Sandy’s Rocket – children pedal a rocket to power it up

4D Cinema

There’s a 4D cinema at Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside that shows different shows at different times.

On the day we visited there was a SpongeBob Square Pants movie, which Ryan didn’t want to see but I made him, and it turned out to be our favourite part of the day.

Once inside we were given some 3D glasses, and were rocked in our seats to dodge seashells and sea creatures, had seaweed hitting our legs and back, and were wet by bubbles as SpongeBob Square Pants caught jellyfish and explored the ocean.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The last zone we visited was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles zone, which had an Action Zone located at the entrance with obstacles children had to climb, crawl through, and jump over.

There was a ride in here called Donatello’s Ninja Flyers, where up to two people sat in a bike and pedalled it to make it go up and down.

Meet and greets

There are a number of meet and greets that you can do during your visit, which are advertised on a board outside the Slime Café, and at the ticket area.

On the day we visited we were able to meet and greet Marshall from Paw Patrol, or Patrick from SpongeBob SquarePants.

Ryan was a bit too scared to do this, so we skipped this activity.

Shopping

There’s a shop at the ticket box that sells toys, games, and Nickelodeon themed gifts.

Food options

There’s a café at Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside called Slime Café, which is located behind Rugrats and sells hot and cold food and drinks, and treats that you can eat at one of the tables within the café.

Ryan had an Oreo muffin, but we decided to have lunch after our visit in the Shopping Centre.

My thoughts

I think that Nickelodeon Adventure Lakeside is a great morning or afternoon out, and it doesn’t matter if your child is a Nickelodeon fan or not because everything is colourful, interactive, and fun, there’s no need to know any of the characters.

Due to some of the zones having things that children under 90cm can’t use, it may be a place that 3-5 year olds would get the most benefit from, or if you do take a younger child, try to have an adult with them, and another adult with your older child.

I also liked that everything was located in the same area, so you could leave your buggy somewhere and easily find it again, or you could easily keep track of where a runaway child may be.

I definitely want to revisit with my younger son.

What TV themed attractions do your kids love?
