On Mother’s Day many mums crave alone time, but there will most likely be part of the day where your kids will want to do a Mother’s Day activity with you.

When this time comes, having some Mother’s Day activity ideas on hand that you’ll actually enjoy will make the day more special.

Here are 5 Mother’s Day activities that you can subtly suggest your family do together on Mother’s Day, which means the day will be filled with things you actually love to do.

Also, if like many mums, myself included, you want some time out on Mother’s Day, here are some things to do for yourself on Mother’s Day that you can do as well.

Get your kids to organise an event

Is there something you want done for you on Mother’s Day?

Perhaps you want breakfast in bed, baked treats, or want to go out for a picnic but don’t want to prepare the food yourself? If so, get your kids to organise it, with the help of another adult.

This way you can enjoy what you want without having to do any part of it, and your kids will think that they’ve organised the whole thing.

Movie marathon

Having an afternoon on the couch with snacks, your kids, and a list of your favourite movies to choose from, is a nice way to spend Mother’s Day together.

If you’re stuck for movie marathon ideas, here are some Mother’s Day movies to watch with kids that everyone, but especially you, will enjoy.

High tea

A Mother’s Day activity idea that’s fun for the whole family is going out for high tea to somewhere with really delicious sandwiches and cakes.

High tea is a great way to relax, treat yourself and your family, and not have to do any cleaning up afterwards.

Alternatively, you could have an afternoon tea at home if you’d like to do do some cooking with your kids.

Family road trip

Going on a family road trip somewhere of your choice is a great family friendly Mother’s Day activity.

Pack some kid friendly snacks, some parent friendly snacks, and head for the road.

You may also decide to stop somewhere for lunch for an extra special Mother’s Day treat.

Alone time

Alone time for mums is essential for our mental health and wellbeing, and sometimes on Mother’s Day all we want is some alone time, and that’s totally fine.

If you want some alone time on Mother’s Day ask your partner, or other family members to take your kids somewhere fun, so you can have a well deserved break.

There are many Mother’s Day activities the whole family can enjoy together, with many that you will enjoy as well.

Some Mother’s Day activities that you and your family may enjoy include getting your kids to organise something you want for Mother’s Day, such as breakfast in bed, or have a movie marathon with movies you love.

Some other ideas include going out for high tea, having an afternoon tea party at home, or heading out on a family road trip somewhere you want to go.
