HOW TO ORGANISE YOUR GROCERY LIST
Below are some great ways to organise your grocery list, which will help you to feel much better prepared when it’s time to do the grocery shopping.
KEEP A RUNNING LIST
To ensure you won’t forget anything you need, attach a notepad or magnetic whiteboard to your fridge, so everyone in your household can add items to it that have run out, or are about to run out.
When you’re ready to go shopping write everything from your running list onto the list you’ll take to the store, or take a photo of it.
Don’t forget to add ingredients you’ll need for your weekly meals, staples like bread, milk, eggs, and butter, as well as spices, baking ingredients, baking paper, foil, cling wrap etc.
KEEP AN EYE ON SALES
A great way to organise your grocery list is to keep an eye on sales that your grocery store has online, or on coupons they’ve posted you.
If the sales are for things you’ll use, then add them to your grocery list.
GROUP ITEMS TOGETHER
When writing your grocery list, group similar items together.
For example, list all the spices you need, all the meats, vegetables, fruits etc. so they are all written in the same spot.
ORGANISE YOUR GROCERY LIST BY AISLE
As well as grouping items, you may like to organise your grocery list by where they’re located in the grocery store.
Most grocery stores are set up in a similar way. Produce is at the front, meat, baked goods, dairy and frozen food are next. In the middle of the store are dry and canned goods, baking ingredients, drinks, baby items, and personal goods. Towards the end are pet and household items.
This means that you would list your produce, meat, baked goods, dairy and frozen food at the beginning of your list. You would then write your dry and canned goods, baking ingredients, drinks, baby items, and personal goods in the middle of your list. Lastly you’d write down the pet and household items you also need.
If you organise your grocery list by aisle you’ll be less distracted to buy things that are in other aisles, and you won’t have to go up an aisle several times because you forgot something.
CONSIDER USING A DIGITAL GROCERY LIST
Going digital to organise your grocery list like using Google Keep, Evernote, or Google Sheets means that you can share your grocery list with anyone else in your household, who can go grocery shopping instead of you.
CHECK YOUR GROCERY LIST BEFORE YOU NEED IT
Before going grocery shopping, check your grocery list one last time to make sure you haven’t left anything out.
You may also like to ask everyone in your household if there’s anything they need that they haven’t included on the list.
I hope you’ve found some ways to organise your grocery list that will simplify grocery shopping for you.
