EASTER EGG OR TREASURE HUNT

I love seeing the joy on my four year olds face when he discovers that the Easter Bunny has left him an Easter egg hunt challenge.

If you have older children who find Easter egg hunts boring, you could try a treasure hunt instead. This involves hiding treasures which can be found by your children having to solve clues you provide them before they go on their hunt, or that they find each time they discover a hidden treasure.

PLAY SOME EASTER THEMED GAMES

Easter themed games is one of the more unique Easter activities that you can do as a family, and some that you can try include:

Egg and spoon race

Whenever I think of Easter themed games, this is the game that comes to mind.

To play this game you need to set up an obstacle course inside or outside of your home. Whoever finishes the course first whilst balancing a boiled egg on a spoon without dropping the egg wins.

Instead of setting up an obstacle course you could also just run or walk in a very straight line.

Easter egg bowling

This game is where each family member tries to knock down empty water bottles with hard eggs.

Whoever knocks over the most bottles wins.

Egg toss

The objective of this game is to get as many Easter eggs into a basket as you can.

Each family member needs to stand behind some tape or string on the floor.

The basket is then placed away from the line, and each participant gets 6 eggs, everyone takes turns throwing all of their eggs into the basket, and whoever throws the most eggs into the basket wins.

Pin the tail on the bunny

This game involves drawing a bunny on some paper, covering your child’s eyes, and getting them to pin the tail on the bunny, which could be a cotton ball.

The child who gets the tail closest to the bunny’s bottom wins.

EASTER ARTS AND CRAFTS

Easter arts and crafts that you may like to set up for Easter include:

Egg decoration

Getting your children to decorate eggs is such a great idea, as usually they only decorate paper, so the novelty of this activity is sure to please everyone.

To do this mix 1 teaspoon of vinegar with ¼ teaspoon of food colouring, and then pour it into ¾ cup of water.

Repeat with any other colour that you’d like to use and put each colour into separate bowls.

Make sure there’s enough water in the mixture to cover the amount of eggs you want the colours to cover.

You could either hollow out the egg, or use hardboiled eggs so there’s no mess if an egg cracks whilst being painted.

Once they are dried you could decorate them even further with glitter, stickers, or draw patterns on them with white crayons.

Easter egg potato stamps

This is such an easy activity for your children to enjoy, all they need to do is dip a cut potato into some paint and stamp it onto some paper to make cards, table decorations, or artwork.

Crafty Morning has a great how to post on how to do this Easter activity.

Colouring in sheets

If you Google Easter colouring in pages, you will see a huge variety of free colouring in pages that you can print off for your children to colour or paint.

If you don’t have a printer, plain paper is just as great and will allow your children to be extra creative by having to draw and colour in their own Easter creation.

Make some Easter cards

One of the Easter activities that younger children can enjoy is making Easter cards.

All they’ll need is paper, markers, pencils, children safe scissors, and some decorations like glitter, pom poms, and stickers.

Egg shakers

This is a great activity for very young children, where you place something inside plastic eggs that make a noise when they shake them, and that are sealed tight with tape so they can’t swallow the contents.

DO SOME EASTER BAKING

Easter baking is a great way to get your children in the kitchen, as well as enjoying some baked goods afterwards.

Here are some great Easter baking ideas to try:

GO ON A FAMILY WALK OR VISIT A PLAYGROUND

After all your chocolate eating and Easter baking a family walk or a visit to the playground could be just the thing to burn off some energy.

READ SOME EASTER STORIES

There’s so many fantastic stories that have an Easter theme, and can make Easter bedtime so much easier, some of these are:

WATCH EASTER MOVIES

A great way to end Easter is to watch some Easter family friendly movies, which may include:

I hope you’ve found some Easter activities that you’d like to try this year, and maybe even turn into some future Easter traditions.

What Easter activities will you try this Easter?
