Easter basket ideas for kids

It’s no secret that I love chocolate, and therefore no surprise to me that I’ve passed my chocolate loving ways onto Ryan.

Now that Ryan is of preschool age, he’s starting to better appreciate the more fun aspects of life compared to when he was a toddler.

Ryan’s fun loving stage of life makes for the perfect time to start some holiday traditions.

This was something that I started last year when trying some of these family Christmas traditions and looking at different advent calendar fillers.

Now it’s Easter’s turn, and one tradition that I keep coming across is an Easter basket. However, not having grown up receiving an Easter basket, I’m not entirely sure what one is, or what goes in it.

So, if like me you’re keen to start a new Easter tradition by creating an Easter basket for your kids, but you’re not sure what an Easter basket is, or if you do Easter baskets but would like some fresh ideas on what put in your Easter basket this year, then hopefully this post will provide some assistance.

WHAT IS AN EASTER BASKET?

An Easter basket is where the Easter bunny or yourself, either leaves a basket full of Easter or non Easter themed goodies at the foot of your child’s bed, or hidden somewhere for your child to find.

Easter baskets can also be empty so your kids can fill them with the Easter Eggs they find during their Easter Egg hunt.

Also, if you go away for Easter and will be in a hotel room, an Easter basket filled with goodies provides a great way for your child to still get into the Easter spirit, as having an Easter Egg hut in a hotel room may prove difficult.

WHAT CAN YOU USE AS AN EASTER BASKET?

You can use anything as an Easter basket, some ideas include:

  • Wooden baskets
  • A bunny shaped basket
  • Mini buckets
  • Mini felt buckets
  • Trucks (you can put the Easter goodies in the back of it)
  • Bags

WHAT CAN YOU PUT IN AN EASTER EGG BASKET?

Here are some ideas for Easter basket fillers that you may like to include in your kid’s Easter basket:

  • Mini bags of Haribo, Rowntree’s Jelly Tots, or mini marshmallows

  • Flashlight
